The newly broadened collaboration comes to support the acceleration digital transformation for customers and builds on the 2020 strategic collaboration formed by the which since then, has seen the two continue to develop offerings and strengthen delivery capabilities.
Specifically, the two will develop an end-to-end 5G offering by combining NEC's cloud-native open 5G mobile core, OSS/BSS solutions, local 5G use cases with AWS' cloud and edge solutions.
The combined solution stack will be supported by NEC's system integration services to enable customers to deploy and scale 5G networks, enhance automation and improve operational economics.

In addition, in the area of digital government, NEC has been certified as an AWS Government Competency Partner. As a result, NEC strengthens its relationship with AWS and will focus on developing and delivering offerings to accelerate the digital transformation of the Japanese government.
Lastly through the collaboration with AWS, NEC aims to develop and provide a range of offerings that connects on-premises and cloud environments securely, at high speed, and with low latency.

To accelerate all these initiatives, the NEC Group has increased the number of AWS-certified engineers to 2,000 at present, aiming for 3,000.
