Globe began on-site 5G testing in May and looks to extend this connectivity from Valero to other parts of Metro Manila and beyond.
Ernest Cu, Globe president and CEO said: “Globe is creating new possibilities with 5G SA.
“We are all set to leverage these enablers to make our 5G value proposition more compelling and competitive. 5G SA will allow us to do more services for multiple industries with new business models.”
Globe first launched non-standalone 5G in around 17 cities late last year and by March 2021, it had covered 84% of metro Manila (pictured). It continues to ramp up its 5G network builds and services are already available in more than 1,854 key locations all over the country so far this year.
Further, Globe's 5G roll out has seen it partner with Infinera and HPE.
The operator said that with network slicing, it can "tailor fit 5G services to the dynamic requirements of consumers and businesses". Instead of sharing one extensive network, each group can have its own customisable virtual network with its own policies running at the same time without disturbing one another.
“As an industry leader, the company stands firm in its mission to enable Filipinos with innovative technologies and empower them in their life choices. 5G SA will enable our customers to experience better connectivity, enjoy new applications from 5G use cases, and connect new industries,” added Cu.
Earlier this month, the company made its digital transformation official as it pivoted its primary business to become a “digital solutions group”.
