Effective as of 1 October 2021, Segun has been tasked with leading African telco and mobile money services provider and has also joined the board of Airtel Africa.

With more than 25 years business management experience in banking, consumer goods and telecoms, prior to his appointment Ogunsanya served as managing director and CEO of Airtel Nigeria where he was responsible for the overall management of the operations across the company's largest market.
Before joining Airtel in 2012, Ogunsanya also held leadership roles as managing director and CEO for Coca-Cola in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. He has also served as managing director of Nigerian Bottling Companyand Group head of retail banking operations at Ecobank Transnational, covering 28 countries in Africa. He is an electronics engineer and also a chartered accountant.
In related news, in July of this year Airtel Africa reported a revenue increase of 30.7% year on year in its second quarter results, reaching $1.1 billion, as the business recovered from the impacts of Covid-19 in 2020.
