The project is a flagship initiative in which NEC and Cisco say they will take full advantage of the GSIA and collaborate to deliver “state-of-the-art networks” to the customer.
Cisco will supply its NCS 540 series and the cell site router for this project while NEC will provide value added services built on its IT expertise. NEC will implement architecture that enables scalable end-to-end IP/MPLS networks with bandwidth that can support the high capacity required by 5G.

“We are excited to contribute to the advancement of Telenor's 5G network evolution,” he added.
Similarly, NEC recently announced that its subsidiary Netcracker signed a multi-year partnership with Juniper networks to launch xHaul transport automation.
This partnership, though, is built on a well-established relationship between NEC and Telenor and is an extension of a global frame agreement signed in 2016 for Telenor’s 4G MPLS network in Scandinavia.
