Hosted by leading operators and the new windowTelecom Infra Project (TIP), the trial was aimed at demonstrating functionality and multi-vendor interoperability of OpenRAN-based network equipment.
Trials were held at Menlo Park, USA; Torino, Italy; Tokyo, Japan; and Seoul, South Korea.
Earlier this year, NEC became the first commercial provider of massive MIMO open Radio Units and its subsidiary Netcracker has participated in multiple PlugFest venues around the world this year.
