It is forecast to be the largest data centre campus in the country and will be sited on a five-hectare plot with the company saying it will be designed to be Tier-3 certified and Tier-4 ready.
Strong global market demand, particularly those that the PLDT Group is catering to prompted PLDT president and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio to state: “As the demand for digital just keeps growing, we have the ready facilities and we continue to expand our data centres to accommodate that demand to ensure that we are able to keep up and deliver future requirements."
The firm adds that the new data centre will implement global-class sustainability practices in design, supply, and building operations including rainwater collection, wastewater reuse, renewable energy use and lowest realistic power usage effectiveness.
While timelines were not shared, the plans for the data centre stretch back to October 2021.
"PLDT and ePLDT have longstanding relationships with global hyperscalers, so we do understand their requirements,” said Jojo Gendrano, FVP and head of enterprise and international at PLDT.
“We have elevated our infrastructure design, our operating practices, and business models in our existing data centres according to what they need, and VITRO Sta. Rosa's design and operations will be very well-suited to hyperscaler standards.”
