The news comes after FirstLight acquired FLTG in September 2017 and its plan to integrate the operations of the company under one brand.
Commeting on the news, Kurt Van Wagenen, president and CEO of FirstLight, said: “The integration of FLTG is an important development and sets the stage for FirstLight’s continued growth in 2018. Now as one team and one company, we are well positioned to continue serving the fibre-based infrastructure needs of carriers and enterprise businesses throughout our growing footprint in the Northeast.”
FLTG is only one of four acquisitions made by FirstLight over the previous year, in addition the company also brought and integrated the operations of Oxford Networks, Sovernet Communications and 186 Communications. Integration with Sovernet Communications was completed by March 2017, FirstLight Fiber, Oxford Networks and ION Communications rebranded as FirstLight in April 2017 and it had completed its purchase of 186 Communications by October 2017.
“The rebrand of FLTG to FirstLight follows the successful rebranding of Oxford Networks, BayRing Communications, Sovernet Communications, ION Communications and 186 Communications under the FirstLight brand, and is yet another testament to our team’s hard work and our overall commitment to providing high-quality infrastructure services and exceptional, locally-based support to an expanding customer base,” added Maura Mahoney, vice president of marketing & product management at FirstLight.
As a result of its recent purchases FirstLight now operates approximately 14,000 route miles of high-capacity fibre in the US, connecting nearly 8,000 locations and twelve data centres in six states.
FirstLight recently won the award for Best Americas Project at the Global Carrier Awards that took place in October 2017. FirstLight was shortlisted for the prestigious award, alongside Neutrona Networks.
