Equinix is to host Kentik’s network analytics software at its Frankfurt centre, marking the US software company’s expansion into Europe.

Kentik said the move builds on its existing US-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) presence to better address the specific needs of European enterprises and communications service providers. Kentik said its platform now monitors over 400Tbps of network activity across more than 200 customers and processes over a trillion flow records daily.

Franck Simon, president of France-IX, said: “With Kentik’s expansion into the region, we’re looking forward to watching them achieve new successes in helping European companies address network visibility and optimization.”

He added: “Kentik has been a marketplace partner since the company’s early days, and we continue to be impressed by their modern network analytics solution that’s now serving some of the largest service providers across Europe.”

Avi Freedman, the former Akamai executive who is co-founder and CEO of Kentik, said: “As networks and applications grow and become increasingly complex, the operations groups behind them must have real-time visibility into both their classic and cloud-native networks to make decisions on routing, capacity, performance, and security that drive stronger customer experiences and business results.”

Nissreen Askar, co-partner of Diverse, a Kentik channel partner, said: “Believing that the price of network visibility is far less than the cost of staying in the dark, businesses are increasingly looking for ways to gain value out their network data. Network analytics from Kentik make this goal a low-hanging fruit and also enable companies to gain insightful business value from their data.”

Privately owned Kentik, based in San Francisco, said it would be recruiting staff in Europe to support the expansion.
