Through the undisclosed transaction, Orange España strengthens its wholesale offering in the country, becoming a provider of convergent services - mobile telephony and fibre - for small and medium-sized businesses.
Under the terms of the agreement between Orange España and Grupo Ingenium, all existing agreements with operators hosted in SUMA will still be met in order to ensure a seamless continuation of services. In addition, JSC Ingenium, a division of Grupo Ingenium focused on the design and development of technology for mobile virtual operators, will continue to offer technical support for the platform.
"In 2012 we began this exciting adventure with the clear objective of helping our customers to make their mobile business projects a reality, always offering state-of-the-art technology and always seeking to offer excellence in customer service,” said Sergio Cano, CEO of Grupo Ingenium. “During this time, we have deployed more than 30 operators in Spain from different sectors, with different business models and positions, which has led us to become the first independent convergent multi-service platform in our country and a reference at the international level. All these has been thanks to the trust and support that our customers have given us since the beginning, key to the success of SUMA Móvil in Spain".
SUMA Móvil Spain first began operating in 2012, using Orange España’s radio network. Since then, it has deployed more than 30 mobile brands. In 2019, the company launched fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) making it the first independent multi-service convergent platform in Spain.
Earlier this year, Orange Spain announced a collaboration with Huawei to build a 5G-ready fixed mobile convergence (FMC) intent-driven network (IDN). These developments provide intelligent O&M and help Orange Spain to build an integrated and convergent transport network with unified protocol, architecture, and management and control.
