This 9,000km system will connect Singapore and India, offering a minimum of 18Tbps per fibre pair between each point of presence and leverages WSS ROADM switching capability at the branching unit.
It will also feature additional branches to Thailand, Indonesia and Oman, and is touted as the first open access subsea cable connecting these two countries.
The system is the first project from newly launched, independent infrastructure provider Datawave Networks, founded by its CEO Mark Wickham, a UK-based subsea cable veteran,

To date, the project has awarded the SING desktop study to Global Marine, as of September 2020. The desk-based portion of the cable route study has been completed with site visits due to begin once the Covid-19 restrictions have been eased.
Additionally, the company has secured commitments from unnamed anchor tenants, while the supply contract is in its final stages.
Its India and Singapore licenses are progressing on schedule and construction is due to begin in June 2021.
