Since joining Batelco in 2004, Askar has held various managerial and senior roles across the company, After holding the chief global business role in an acting capacity, Askar now formally takes responsibility for developing and growing Batelco’s global business and promoting business relationships with global customers, partners, carriers and Batelco’s joint venture partners as well as designing customised solutions for global clients. He is also responsible for developing and expanding international infrastructure along with voice & roaming services.
Askar's career highlights include his role in the development of Manama Internet Exchange (MN-IX), Global Zone Bahrain and Batelco Gulf Network (BGN) as well as they expansion of Batelco’s IP and MPLS footprint to cover different geographies beyond Bahrain.
He holds a BEng (Hons) in Computing and Communications Systems Engineering from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK and a Postgraduate Certificate in Management (Telecoms) from Lancaster University, UK, as well as many other professional certificates in Engineering and Project Management.
