The vendor has selected Ericsson’s 5G core network for Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg and Poland and Nokia’s 5G core SA network for France and Slovakia.
Spain, in particular, represents a key market for Orange after it invested €350 million in the largest 5G network deployment plan on the 700MHz frequency band in the country.
The company has added that Oracle Communications was selected for 5G core signalling and routing in all countries where it has selected partners.
These partnerships are a “major milestone”, according to Orange, and the vendor said such agreements will enable the future development of value-added on-demand and customised services for Orange customers in all sectors of the economy.
In a statement, the firm said 2022 is “a year of preparation, testing and deployment to facilitate commercial launches from 2023”.
It is mobilising its experts and setting up a network integration factor to test and validate technical chains, the performance of end-to-end services and to conduct tests with users.
5G SA brings increased performance in terms of uplink data rates for the end users, while also providing lower latency.
For businesses, it provides flexible and scalable services and Orange confirmed it would use network slicing to cover users’ specific needs and offer “different levels of quality and security”.
The technology is already available for learning, testing and innovating with interested companies at Orange 5G Lab sites, the firm added.
